Understanding Your Child’s Behaviour

This workshop will help you to better understand teenage behaviour. This session will help develop awareness of conflict. How does conflict happen? How does it escalate? What part does blame and our use of ‘blaming language’ contribute to the escalation of conflict?

This workshop will help you to better understand teenage behaviour. The session will explore strategies to help understand conflict and the de-escalation of conflict. It will teach how we can adapt our language and communication style to help people calm down and explore what is at the root of the conflict.
Helping Understand Your Child’s Year 9 Options

This workshop is aimed at parents and carers of Year 9 students. It will explore how Year 9 options may affect your child’s career choices and understand why it is important for children to research their options before making decisions. The options that your child will choose in Year 9 are important and should be made with all the facts available. This workshop will give you all the information to help your child make the right choices.
Understanding Your Teenager

The focus of this workshop will be on encouraging you to build a strong and positive relationship with your teenager. The session will cover an introduction to behaviour management. We will explore why teenagers behave the way they do, how we can help our teenagers, and how to communicate more effectively to teenagers so that they will listen.
How to Help Your Child Succeed

This workshop will explore how we can empower, enable and equip our children with the attitudes, behaviours and thinking essential to succeed. Topics included in this workshop are how we can empower our relationships with children, maintaining wellbeing, and equipping our children to be leaders in both their own lives as well as within their community.
Supporting Your Child During Transition into Year 7

This workshop will help you to support your child as they transition from primary school to secondary school. The session will give you practical ideas to help children over the summer holiday and the first few weeks at Heartlands Academy. We will explore how to prepare for ups and downs in the transition to Heartlands, how to help children manage their worries and concerns, building new friendships, and surviving the first day.

Keeping Your Child Safe on the Streets of Nechells

This workshop will help you to become aware of current issues that impact young people in Nechells, such as radicalisation, gangs, drugs and alcohol. It will help raise awareness about antisocial behaviour and how children can display antisocial behaviour when out with friends. You will learn how to keep children safe by knowing where they are going, with whom, and what they are doing.

This workshop will help parents to understand the school system better. You will learn about the grades your child is working at and how to support your child to achieve better grades at school. The workshop will offer practical tips of how to support children through the ups and downs of school life. It will help you to understand your role in supporting learning.
Keeping Your Child Safe Online

This workshop will help you to understand about the latest apps, social media, online gaming and the overall influence of the internet. It will also explore the risks and opportunities online. You will learn how to keep children safe online and explore parent controls on devices. The workshop will be delivered in an engaging way and will allow opportunities for questions and discussions.
